Welcome from the House Captains and Ministers

Welcome to the Brilliant school that is East Hunsbury Primary School. We are representatives from the pupil leadership groups: House Captains and School Parliament.

To begin with, pupil leadership roles in our school are very important, no matter how big or small.

We have many roles. For example, House Captains, Parliamentarians, Reading Ambassadors, Kindness Ambassadors and so much more.

Next, we would like to talk about House and Proud points. House points are awarded when an individual works very hard at something and is rewarded a point for their house (Whittlewood, Salcey, Everdon or Harlestone). A Proud Point is a reward system that focuses on an individual’s achievement and is rewarded when someone spots them ‘doing the right thing.’

As students at East Hunsbury Primary, we are especially proud of our reading books. We have spent a lot of money renovating our library and making sure it is filled with the best books! We also have 100 books that we are encouraged to read by the end of our time here (by the end of Year 6). If we complete these, we get a gleaming trophy and get to walk down a red carpet! A highlight of our school year is RED (Read Every Day) October where during the month of October we take part in lots of fun reading challenges and have authors visit us. We love it!

Here at EHPS, we love The Hive. The Hive is our school’s specialist unit and we really enjoy learning and playing together.

A vital part of our school are our teachers. They support us in our learning and make a positive difference in our lives. They give us many opportunities that a lot of children don’t get and we make the most of them. During our learning time, we work especially hard no matter what we are learning because we know it is important.

We have drills, assemblies and lessons all about being safe and we feel safe in school.
