End of Summer 1 24.05.24

Dear Families

Well that’s it, the end of Summer 1 and we are heading into the home straight of this academic year. Where is the time going? It is now just over 2 years since I have been your Headteacher, and I continue to be proud and privilege to lead such an amazing school – thank you for your support.

We have had a brilliant week which started with an assembly hosted by our Mayor Cllr Stephen Hibbert, Mayoress Liz Cox and Dave Peach (Macebearer).

Our very own parliamentarians organised some brilliant questions to ask on behalf of their classes and the children loved learning all about the role of our Mayor. You will see the new Mayor and Mayoress open our summer fete on 29th June.

Year 5 Class Assembly

On Wednesday, we were treated to a Year 5 spectacular class assembly. Again, the standard was incredibly high with singing, dancing and poetry performed beautifully. They performed songs they had written, presented patchwork textiles influenced by Earth day, recited poetry and sang songs! It really was impressive. Well done year 5 and the teaching team – you are all BRILLIANT!

SU show

Wow! On Wednesday we were treated to the most wonderful and spectacular summer show from our amazing SU children. It was based on Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book by Julia Donaldson. Every child shone on stage and tried their best and made the school shine with pride. Well done everyone, including all of the staff who worked so hard to make it perfect for our children. What a talented school we are!

Talking of shows… this week our Year 6s have been auditioning for their parts in Annie – it’s wonderful to learn how many of them have incredible singing voices and are talented actors! Watch this space West End!

School Photos

Earlier this week, you will have received an email from myself informing you that we are changing our school photo provider and will now be using Pret-a-Portrait. This change was not an easy decision to make but after listening to feedback and evaluating our in school processes we felt it was necessary.

Class photos will take place on 26th June (all children to wear school uniform that day – if they usually have PE they should bring it to change into). Class photos will take a slightly more traditional format e.g. all as one group but individual photos (due early September) will continue to be a mix of formal and informal. Pret-a-Portrait come highly recommended from neighbouring schools and we are excited to see the final products – thank you for your support.

Year 5 Saints Workshops

Did you know that we have a partnership with the Saints Rugby Club? Part of this involves our Year 5 children taking part in a values programme to help them learn all about:

Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship and Understanding.

The Values Programme incorporates the core values of Northampton Saints Foundation and the power of sport through innovative classroom and practical multi-sport sessions and they have adapted the programme to also teach our school values of Be Kind. Work Hard. Believe.

The programme offers a holistic approach to promote wellbeing – aiming to build character in its participants, improve their interaction and communication skills, whilst also encouraging positive self and social behaviours.

The sessions encourage interaction, understanding and personal development, with pupils discussing and developing their knowledge of the core values and how they are applied in and support real-life situations.

Finally, have a wonderful half term break – fingers crossed for the sunshine and don’t forget if you are looking for something to do you could have a look at our 70 Things or read one of our 100 books.

See you on Tuesday 4th June (the 3rd June is a training day).

Ms Pennington
