RED October

A Month of Reading Joy

One of the highlights of the year is RED October (Read Every Day during October)! RED October is a whole month devoted to celebrating reading for pleasure. It’s an exciting and much-anticipated event packed with book-themed challenges, competitions, dressing-up days and creative activities including the famous Story Spuds!

Throughout October, children are encouraged to read widely and often building reading habits that last all year. We also welcome authors and illustrators into school to inspire our budding readers and writers. Recent visitors have included Nick Sharratt, SF Said, Mini Grey, Thomas Taylor, Jenny McLachlan, Peter Bunzl, Abi Elphinstone, Kieran Larwood and Sophy Henn (to name just a few!) and many more both in person and virtually.

These encounters bring books to life and show children that stories begin with imagination and hard work.
