Dear Families
We are now well into Autumn 2 and the nights are drawing in and it is certainly a little chillier. Please make sure that your child brings a coat to school and if they bring any hats, gloves or scarves etc they must be named.
This week, I have had the privilege of visiting many classrooms and seeing the exceptional learning and behaviour taking place. Our children are loving receiving their house tokens which are given in recognition for going above and beyond for our school values of: Be Kind, Work Hard and Believe.
We Remember
A selection of our children took part in creating beautiful poppy wraps which went around the trees at Grangewood Park. These were showcased at the Remembrance Event at on 12th November and were a wonderful tribute to such an important event. Thank you to all of the teachers and children who made a poppy - we were honoured to take part and thank you to everyone who brought a poppy or two to support this valuable cause.
Parents’ Evening
On Wednesday and Thursday, it was wonderful to open our doors for our first Parents’ Evening of the year. We try as much as we can to communicate with you about your child’s progress and we hope that the parent meetings alongside the termly reports gives you reassurance that we are planning appropriately for your child’s learning journey. If, after your parents’ evening, you still have some questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher, their phase leader or myself. We really are very proud of all that they continue to achieve.
Thank you to everyone who purchased a book from our Scholastic book fair too – every penny raised helps us purchase more books for our library.
Walk in Wednesday and Positive Noticing Day
Wednesday was a very special day for us. Not only was it our second Walk in Wednesday event of the year but it was also Positive Noticing Day. Positive Noticing Day is all about recognising the positive and brilliance in each and every one of us. Without doubt throughout the day, there was a lovely buzz around the school.
During the morning, all of the children and adults wrote tags to one another with what they felt was positive and brilliant about them. Then we all wore them with pride - it was lovely to share this experience with some of our families too.
King’s Letter
WOW! We have got a letter from the King and the Queen! Our amazing children in our Specialist Unit wrote to the King to congratulate him on his coronation and guess what? We got a reply! Well done children – a brilliant example of writing with a true purpose.
Change Makers’ Assembly
On Monday we welcomed Natasha from University of Northampton (UoN) who led an assembly for KS2 all about becoming a Change Maker. A Change Maker is Changemakers are a group of people working together to make a positive change in the school and community. We are all excited to see what positive change our young leaders make and our relationship with UoN grow.
Mrs Hayhurst led the assembly on Monday for our Key Stage 1 and Early Years learners. It focussed on Antibulling week and why so many of us were wearing odd socks! They also read the book Little Glow which was all about the importance of light and what it represents in our faiths, traditions and cultures. Mrs Hayhurst also told me just how beautifully the children entered and sat during the assembly – well done everyone.
New Intake
We had another sell out New Intake tour today and with only 3 sessions left. If you know anyone who would like to come and visit us with a view to starting in September 2024, please do share our website address where they will be able to book. Applications for a primary school place have to be made by 15th January 2024.
