Dear Families
I hope that you had a lovely bank holiday – here in EHPS we have had a wonderful week full of variety and fun.
Assembly
The week started with an assembly which was led by Mrs New and was all about the UN's World Day for Cultural Diversity, for Dialogue and Development which is coming up on May 21st. We are proud to be a school which has a diverse community and have decided to celebrate every child’s uniqueness, background and heritage on this day. As such, we are inviting children and staff to come into school wearing clothes that represents their culture or themselves. This could be an outfit that is traditional to their culture or clothing that they feel represents them (please note that we are asking that children do not wear football kits). Your child could come to school in their PE kit/uniform if they prefer.
We also inviting children to produce a poster that celebrates their culture (this is optional). This could include information about their favourite foods, special events, words that they like and anything else that they’d like to share with us! We can’t wait to see them!
During the day, children will learn all about each other and all that makes them all brilliant and wonderfully unique. Please keep an eye out on DoJo for more information.
Walk in Wednesday
Wednesday was our penultimate Walk in Wednesday for the year and, once again, it was wonderful to see so many families in our classrooms. This time we focussed on reading. Our next, and final for the year, Walk in Wednesday is on 18th June with a science focus.
Marking 80th Anniversary of VE Day
Thursday was a very important day for us as we marked and learnt all about Victory in Europe day. We held a special assembly in which senior members of our local community joined us and were presented with a red rose by our wonderful House Captains. Vicar Griff led the assembly and told all of the children about what VE day means and why is it a significant day in our history. We were really impressed with the children’s respect and behaviour during this assembly.
Welcome Reception Cohort 2025 - 2026
On Thursday, we welcomed our new families to school as we held our New Intake Information session. It is really exciting when we meet our new families and we are very excited to start the transition and settling in process with our Reception children.
We do still have some (not many) spaces in Years 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 if you know of any families who would like to come and learn at EHPS!
Finally, please do not forget to complete the surveys that we have sent out. You can access them by clicking on the links below:
And, good luck to our Year 6 children who will be sitting their KS2 SATs next week – Year 6 children… we really believe in each and every one of you and are proud of how hard you have worked. No matter what the results – you are all brilliant and more than a test score in our eyes! Be you. Be proud.
Enjoy your weekend and see you on Monday.
Ms Pennington
